No. 1313_Avatar was created in 2022 using a mixed media technique based on a metal-based iron dispersion, highly concentrated colour pigments and acrylic-based chalk paints.
‘On Pandora, many plants and animals glow bioluminescently at night in shades of blue and violet, with this luminous skin colour offering the Na’vi avatars protection in the dense jungle of the Omaticayan forests.’
Resembling an animal-like ‘jellyfish’, a biomorphic figure stands out against a rust-brown background; with delicate ‘tentacles’ winding around its body, it rises peacefully and silently amidst an archaic-looking environment, its intense light-blue colour scheme reminiscent of the luminous Na’vi avatars.
The ‘Medusa’s’ silent gliding embodies lightness in the flow of life, and its pale blue appearance exudes clarity and honesty. The luminous blue symbolises serenity, tranquillity and trust. A powerful figure manifests itself to the viewer, inviting the mind to let go and allow thoughts to drift in silence.
