AVATAR_2022_120x100x2 cm

No. 1313_Avatar from 2022 is a work created using mixed media.
In Hinduism, “avatara” means the manifestation of a divine aspect that takes the form of a human or animal.
The work was created using a metal-based iron dispersion, highly concentrated colour pigments and acrylic-based chalk paints.
Against a rust-brown background, a biomorphic figure in the form of a bright blue ‘animal’ jellyfish stands out, peacefully and silently gliding through the archaic-looking environment, interspersed with fine ‘tentacles’ writhing around its body. Lines, structure and form give the creature a three-dimensional appearance.
The word avatar is derived from Sanskrit and means ‘descent’, referring to the descent of a deity into earthly spheres. In the film of the same name, this ‘incarnation’ was spectacularly depicted using immersive reality. Avatar stands for the bright cyan blue colour of the virtual Na'vi avatars, which stands out clearly in the pristine and scenic surroundings of the forests of Pandora.
The colour light blue, with its gentle appearance, enhances the feeling of inner peace. With its translucent form, the animal Medusa symbolises clarity and honesty.
