BRUSHWOOD_2024_100x100x2cm

Brushwood is a work of abstract squeegee technique from 2024.
« Magnifique abstraction qui nous fait penser à un sous-bois bien rafraîchissant et qui nous communique une belle sensation de bien-être » (audience voice)
The work beautifully demonstrates how the squeegee technique is capable of producing harmonious, landscape-inspired compositions with subtle color coordination.
Shades of warm green with elements of the underlying primary color palette were gradually worked out using the wet-on-wet technique, through repeated scrapings, paint applications and overlays.
The eye is drawn into the depths of the “undergrowth” via a warming, internal light source, filling it with a pleasant sense of well-being. The landscape-like composition has impressionistic features, and the intense, rich green tones with orange hues are reminiscent of the extensive and vibrant color palette of Henry Rousseau's jungle works.
A black shadow gap frame limits the lushness of the greenery and focuses on the perception of the monochrome richness of color.
