No. 1375_Untitled is a work created using the abstract squeegee technique in 2024.

“It is a coincidence that is always planned, yet always surprising. I am often amazed at how much better chance is than I am” Gerhard Richter

The work, rendered in a luminous palette of red hues, captivates with its vertical, palimpsestic-looking columns of fiery green, flaming orange, radiant yellow, luminous blue and kaleidoscopically interwoven intensity.

Despite the lively, gestural application, the opulent colour palette radiates harmony and tranquillity. From the top to the bottom edge, colour nuances and streaks—imbued with a palpable dynamism and drama—were revealed fluidly and intuitively using a squeegee from a surface built up with countless layers of paint, scrapes and overlays. Beneath these flowing columns of colour, which cascade like waterfalls, horizontal stripes can be seen running from left to right, revealing spectacular contours through the interaction of the wet-on-wet applied paint.

With its fragmented beams of colour, the work suggests energy and movement, and the rhythmic arrangement of the stripes captivates the viewer in an intense interplay of light and shadow.
