No. 1600_Untitled is a work from 2024. An aluminium composite panel, which offers ideal properties for the oil-based abstract squeegee technique, served as the support.
In this monochrome work, a rich palette of green, orange and grey-brown tones interplays with a magnificent dark brown. Subtle, barely perceptible fleeting dabs of red and turquoise hint at deeper layers of colour and reveal how, using a squeegee and brush, through scraping and layering countless layers of paint, an opulent, brilliant brown with chocolate and mahogany undertones was gradually created.
Like a waterfall, impasto columns and streaks of colour pour across the picture surface in multiple layers, and against a twilight background, the viewer is presented with an environment furrowed by ravines and gullies, featuring massive, supporting ridges of rock and rugged crags.
The fragmented topography compels the eye to enter the depths of the work, revealing an extensive cave system with a diffuse, receding light source in the lower part of the picture.
Through its cascading ″masses of water‶, this archaic work conveys energy and movement. A smooth flow and a deliberately meandering river convey harmony and balance. The extensive cave system allows the mind to immerse itself in distant and unknown worlds.
