MUD WITH SWIRL_2023_50x60x4,5 cm

No. 1765_Mud with swirl is a work created using the abstract squeegee technique in 2023.
Through the use of thick and viscous paint mixtures applied with brushes, squeegees and spatulas, as well as by scraping away and repeatedly applying layers of paint, an earth-toned, monochrome work has been created.
A viscous, greenish-brown stream of bubble-forming mud moves horizontally across the canvas, forming a pink swirl. The muddy ‘magma’ is bounded on both ‘banks’ by a natural landscape of vertically oriented formations. High peaks alternate with deep gorges, enigmatic karren and caves.
This harmonious work alludes to the tenacious flow of life with all its resistance and turmoil. Yet it also points to the beauty and vitality of nature- and earth-bound abundance and our close connection to it.
A shadow-joint frame contains the lush flow of mud and allows the work to rest within itself.
