No. 1705_Untitled, from 2025, was created on oil painting paper with a linen embossed finish, offering ideal properties for the oil-based abstract squeegee technique.
‘In my painting process, I don’t really reveal what lay beneath; otherwise, I’d have to think about what I want to reveal.’ Gerhard Richter
Through repeated application, scraping and overlaying, a nuanced interplay of colours has been created over a white titanium ground, comprising impasto dark grey and subtly smudged shades of pink with traces of orange, yellow and purple, and flashes of bright red. The narrow, torn, jagged and vertically running strips of colour, which extend evenly across the vast ‘snowfield’, are reminiscent of ravines or karren. An icy wind seems to sweep constantly across the icy, shimmering plain.
The viewer feels transported to a seemingly vast ‘Arctic’ landscape that captivates in a contemplative way and inspires the mind to drift off into an unreal world in which one can easily lose oneself.
